There are programs to convert ePub to kindle mobi format
Yes I know. I've owned kindles since the first-gen and still use my Paperwhite for novels. I can't use it for textbooks because of the graphics. But the point of it is integration with the library on the device itself, like on the Kobo devices with Overdrive.

It makes a very big difference in terms of usability if you can borrow a book and immediately read it on device, rather than have to head to your computer, convert, and sideload. Either having to keep the almost antiquated microUSB cable around just for that purpose (like why can't Amazon just switch to USB-C already?) or worse : uploading it to your Amazon account and sending it manually to devices.

Any hassle only adds to the reluctance to read. ;)

One big difference between Kindle and Kobo (I used to have both) is Kindle allow you to sideload books and sync across multiple devices and app. So you read on one device and continue on another. You can sideload books on Kobo too but you won’t be able to sync. Only books from Overdrive can be synced on the device and their app.

I have both, one for reading and one for random stuff.

Kinde is old model. Unsupported ebooks can be converted so no issue.

Android is tab a I think. I use Android over iOS because I can do downloads and transfer them if I see something I like while not on the pc.

Epub are the most commonly available format found in the hills if you don't intend to spend
But it's very troublesome to convert ePub into Mobi and email it to your kindle account.
There are many times the converted Mobi failed to get uploaded to Kindle.
It was a very frustrating experience for me.
In the end, I use Tablet and phone more frequently than my Kindle.

This is my experience too.

Along with the need for a coloured reader when I started Part-time uni studies cos of our textbooks rendering charts, graphs and diagrams, I find myself using my iPad more to read.

This is the best solution. I have one and it can run both Kindle app and Overdrive which you can borrow books from NLB.

But my e-reader usage had dropped almost to 0 as the device is quite slow and hardly usable to read e-magzines from NLB.

If you only read books, then it will work fine. Browsing web or anything more CPU intensive isn't suitable.

Yep. It's fine for reading plain text novels. Once there are diagrams, the whole laggy interface is a major put off.

eInk displays don't redraw content as quickly as LCD/OLED displays. But the saturation of OLED displays is worse for the eyes imo.

Kindle is damn useful, I got alot of my favourite self-help books inside so when I depress I can immediately take them out to read and feel much better.

Which Boox device are you currently using? I'm considering to hoot the Boox Nova 3 7.8 or Boox Nova 3 colour when there's a good price promo to replace my Boox 2 6.

Mine is Nova first version.
Colour would be a good plus point to consider, but hopefully they can put in a better CPU too.

Nova first version is very outdated in terms of processor power and other specs. Nova 3 is much improved and runs quite smoothly with Android preinstalled.
