If you born and die immediately, you get zero demerit points. Then straight upgrade during next cycle? Just speculating here, not some religious expert.
Some say herbivores are more lucky as they get less chances to kanna demerit by eating plants. Then carnivores are the unlucky ones as they only can eat meat and probably will face downgrade for the next cycle.
Humans are the most lucky and prestigious ones as they get to choose for themselves every part of their life

There is a unique dimension call time prison. Also reborn souls don’t get here so quickly, it takes up to 50 years or even more. Also not all the new souls come from human base as well.
