Yes, but it causes annoyance to B. I can attest to this.

And wastes everyone's time and resources addressing frivolous reports
Golden rule... the principle of treating others as one wants to be treated

if that's the case why is... B can/will continue to quote and insult/troll/harass.

B shouldn't have done that in the first place no?

Define insult/troll/harass

Define insult/troll/harass
as defined by 28cMostlyCloudy.

and it applies both ways.
A ignore B, A cannot see what B post.

But B still can see what A post

So whenever A post. B can/will continue to quote and insult/troll/harass.

A won't know. Cause A already ignore B

But remember. There's C D E F G in the forum also

C D E F G might comment on what B say about A

And A from there will know B is still harassing A.

So I always felt ignoring function. Is like a bully goes up to you and harasses or even beat you. And you decide to blindfold yourself and think for whatsoever reason the bully will see you in blindfold. Suddenly decide to stop harassing or even beating you.

Ignore function is flawed. A block function is what we need

Which I think is what you are doing now

Will ignore you and not be baited for derail
what you are doing exemplifies self-discipline when you start to feel that you think you are being baited.

which is actually a very good trait to have.

and if everyone follows this trait of self-discipline, we will have a better forum environment, and all these discussions that's happening wouldn't even be taking place anymore.

A case study here for reference, A ignore B, B continue, no actual offence by B directly against forum rules. A found out after a long period of time. Damage already done.

I would like to report this member for his relentless stalking, trolling and harassment
This guy has been relentlessly spreading rumours, stalking, trolling, harassing me for months if not years now. He is on my ignore list and I have never reacted. Nevertheless, I notice, through other members, that the frequency and intensity of his obsession seems to have only increased despite...

personally I feel ignore function is like ostrich hiding head in sand and pretend nothing happen.
I would rather see the action going on and not behind my back. but that's just me ...I know some people with certain personalities may not be able to take it.

same sentiments

there are some valid reasons why one shldnt use ignore function.
if the cyberbully has escalated to ppl CSI your personal info, addr, your child school etc would you still pretend nothing happen? It is better to make police report if such level of cyberbullying happens instead of "ignoring".

Ignore only hides his posts but your posts still can be seen by him and reported. You can't even report him if he scold you or take potshots at you because his posts cannot be seen.
I have a stalker behaving this way for 2 years, appear in every threads that I was in and take potshots at me. He thinks he is smart by harassing me this way to avoid infractions.
If I had put him on ignore list, he would have gone on forever and there is no repercussions to change his behavior. I did not rebuke him at all and this continued for 2 years.
He could have put me in ignore list but no. The perpetrator should be the one putting me in ignore list and not the other way around.
Even if you put him in ignore light he can still passive aggressive click on 😂 emote or like the post when he use his clone to scold you. I'm sure many of you have encountered this.
so the ignore function is quite useless if it is not mutual
The victim is actually on a disadvantage.

This is afterall, the internet. Cannot filter out bad behaviour 100% of the time. I myself guilty of being cheeky or imprudent sometimes.

I think ignore button can help shield a lot. If antagonist goes out of the way to continue to harass despite ignoring, then I think you have a case which you can bring to the feedback forum.

But you have to try your best to ignore and minimise interactions first. Not to intentionally seek or follow these people or even actively go and bicker...

You can still view the ignored person's post by clicking on it and it will open up. It's not hard to spot as you can still see their nick when they post, so it's entirely up to you if you want to open it or not.

Only if someone else quotes it. And you won't see who, you only see it as "ignored member".
Otherwise it pretty much disappears from your view.

Also, ignoring the user will still have their reactions to other posts show up.
So you can still see them like or react to whatever other posts to let you know they still exist. Why can't ignore also hide their reactions from you?

"You are ignoring content by this member. Show ignored content" green banner appears even when not quoted. It is still possible to view.

Anyway although the system isn't perfect the admins and mods have done a great job to keep harassment out of this forum
