I older also neber do once. To me, nt much of a diff to everyone else if i ard next year or nt.
If u have dependents (spouse, kids), parents less so, bcos got siblings to take care etc, then go for screening. IMHO, Just take care of ur BP, blood sugar 1st. Dont smoke, drink. Obviously if got pain, lump then go check it out. If dont have, at this day and age, if want to find, sure can find something.
Let me tell u abt this colonscopy my mum went after blood detected in some FIT test. Anyway, after the scope, rest 1-2 hours, then sit outside, can hear what the nurse say, I heard ALMOST everyone had polyps removed. Got 1 poor old lady, asked to fast till tmrw for another round. i.e. not good. My mum also had polyps removed (nurse brief) then go back home and worry worry.
I dont remember how long after but its quite a wait maybe 2-3 mths. So, when the review by doc came, I asked the doc, what caused the bleeding? He "huh"? Obviously FIT then sent for colonscopy, where/what cause the bleeding? He says dont have. I figured if they see anything serious, we wont wait that long., so nothing serious. The next qn I ask is "so how to avoid the polyps?"....
my pt is "i do wat i can to survive and thrive in my productive years, when its time to go, live up to my nick", we have a health span and life span. If its 6.5/7 decades, it beat 7/8, 8/9. Be alive, nt kept alive.
