Ya...a business degree can be applied to a wide range of career choices....perhaps u may want to find out more from SIM GE career services...think they also run workshops and seminars for students.

What do you want to do in the first place? U can be a cobbler or a janitor with a sim-uol degree. Just saying...

Go jobsdb jobstreet or linkedin and search business degree and take a look at the kind of jobs out there.

Alternatively look at your grades and see which modules you score the best in... That Will prob give u a rough indication of your strengths

Business deg can work in a number of career choices ranging from sales to hr to banks etc.......Find out what u really is of interest in and then decide from there

U mean u enroll the course without doing research on what jobs and industry you will can work in?

But anyway, business degree can work in many different areas and industry. Most importantly, some people study business but work in IT position. So eventually it's up to your interest and pay.

You need to do intense soul searching. You can do what you like and not earn that much. You can do what your degree brings you and not really enjoy whatever you are doing. And of cos if you can find that sweet spot where you meet the best of both, that's great... But usually it will take up years of experience and a few job changes before you can find that spot...

Anyway... Why you intended to take degree in the first place?

I think I'm in the same position as him. I had several job changes over the past few years, across different industries - still finding that sweet spot. I guess getting a degree is essential in Singapore, at least for Singaporeans. Considering our work performance is at least an above average, we are only recognised by our immediate supervisors or the company and our salary and bonus depend largely on immensely huge efforts to prove ourselves. However, with a degree, there's definitely an improved credibility to take on leadership roles, which also pays better. So, why not take a degree?

To AndersonL, yes you need a degree. But decide on where your end destination is first - which is the highest possible position in the industry you think you can be and want to be in. Then, work backwards. From my experience, there's really no point "trying out" different jobs. Cos usually, the difficult parts are at the beginning and they're out to test your resolve of how much u want in. The sweet parts are only once u pass that stage after probably a couple of years, if not, a few years.
