Hi,

Need some advice from you guys!
I'm using imac 2011 21.5 (Expired warranty)

Recently using imac halfway suddenly had an Power strip blackout in my house...

After blackout my com unable to power on and had a burned smell...

So I bought to alab service centre for a check and the result is due to Logic board!
The quotation repair cost like a bomb $800+

So is it worth to repair?
Or just get an new imac 21.5 4k display $2.3k?

Go for a new iMac instead. Cause $800+ is already 30+% of the cost of a new one and not to mention after replace the Logic board when will the other parts fail?

Also 2011 to now 2016 it is already 4~5 years. For a 4~5 yrs old iMac you already have earn back the ROI already. Time to buy a new iMac for latest tech with applecare for another 3 yr coverage.

We wouldn't know when will power trip again...
Later Sway Sway same thing happen again repair for nothing...

So what can I do with my old imac now?
Is it able to trade or just keep it?

I'm now looking into asus aio zen desktop and imac 21.5 4k display screen, not sure which is better spec?!

Haha say liao if on budget and die die must have. It really depends, I understand where you're coming from. But I've bought many second hand electronics and so far so good besides one or two bad ones over the years.
