I called singtel to inquire. The cust. svc. officer informed that Singtel is 'aware' of this issue and has 'escalated' this to Apple.

Simply put, he's saying that its Apple's fault as he mentioned this 'should-be-fixed' by Apple on their next update.

In my case, my nano SIM was from my iPhone 5 and ever since upgrading to the iPhone 6 Plus, I'm in the boat where the activation doesn't seem to be working for my mobile number.

Since @crazychaz SIM change worked, i'm wondering if yours is from your iPhone 5? or 5S? Also, only official Hello Shops can do this change and not from any exclusive retailer?

My SIM was from an iPhone 5.

Thanks, looks like I need to get the change done as well.

Anyways, you got it swapped from a Hello shop or an exclusive retailer?

Worth a shot, although a fellow forumer who got in touch with me mentioned that it didn't work for him. Hello Store.

OK, thanks for the heads-up.

I'll see how it goes when the change happens. Just a little annoyed that its not activating; not the end of the world.

Looks like the 'it just works' motto isn't working well for this case. :)

I'm in the same boat, initially when I swopped to my old iPhone 6 - it's working smoothly.

I change to a new iPhone device, got problem with iMessage already... Hopefully what ST people telling you is the truth lol

Update: changed my SIM card (FOC) at the hello shop. iMessage is now activated with my phone number.

Cheers!

Think those who are on the first gen nano sim (iPhone 5) will have issues.

Bottom line; Singtel's customer service was lying :)

Both my wifey and mine are the 1st gen iphone 5 nano sim card (got it during iphone 5 singtel launch)
Now using the same sim cards on iphone 6 and 6+.
No problem with iMessage.

No problem with iMessage.

iMessage is fine, its just the activation of the mobile number that I had issues with.

Mileage varies, I guess. :)

Visited Singtel technical care and apparently this issue is quite prevalent. However the customer care there has no solution and it still doesn't work after sim card change. By the way, activation of iMessage and FaceTime need not be tied to the Apple ID. Apple also has no clue since some numbers work and some don't. I have checked among my friends and the devices affected range from iPhone 5s to 6. One thing in common is that they are all tied to Singtel.

It happen to my wife's sim card (iphone 5s sim card) change to iphone 6. After changing sim card yesterday. I follow the following steps:
1) sign out of Apple ID
2) Stay on page and wait for iMessage to activate. Your number will be grey out with a tick.
3) Delete the whole message thread and restart a new message thread, the first message will be green (for SMS), the second message will be Blue (iMessage)
4) Do not sign in Apple ID, for some reasons it became SMS again.

Just change my sim card, activated. Please reset networks and off wifi to activate imessage. Confirmed that is singtel sim card problem.

i did call up technical support and the CSO informed free sim card replacement.

Take note of the CSO name just in case when in hello shop they say need to pay.

It happened to me too.

I had spoken with Apple tech as well and they said escalated to senior engineer. But they didn/t know why, just said my no. didn't send a token to their server.

I changed to Iphone 6+ but Singtel sim couldn't activate on both 6+ and 5s. My other telco sim such as China Moible had no activation problem. So it is definitely telco specific.

I realized that it happened to my daughter's old sim as I gave my old 5s to her.

So headed down to Singtel to exchange sims.

Remember to turn off imessage and facetime, before turn off the phone to exchange sim.

Reboot the phone again, before go to imessage to activate.

Check that under Phone, your number appears. I had to manually input the number.

Go to imessage and switch on, be patient, it took me half an hour on each hour for the activation to complete.
