IMOS is the sub-unit. Institute of Maritime Operations & Systems. Should be under TRACOM.

With some luck you'll get to operate the OTO Melara gun or some anti-ship missile.

Wow they must be short of manpower. During my time this kinda jobs are only for regulars.

You will be streamed into your individual vocations after 1 mth. Enjoy life in imos, the best time i had liao.

"xiong" a not, depends on which ship you go to.
It can be hell, it can be heaven.
It's just a matter of how ****ed up are you only.

IMOS = Institute of Maritime & Operation System
in simple term, Navy Training School.
For those kena Mono intake, they served their BMT there. Culture is quite different from those who served in green.

Typical vocation training will total up to about 5 months, the rest of the journey will be onboard ship. Be it BMT in Blue or Green, both after BMT pass out will continue for 5 month (NFC - Naval Foundation Course 1 month, BSC - Basic Seamanship Course 4 month).

I had my best journey on board my ship as IMOS really full of childish young adult acting like kids, though my life on board ship as an OJT (on board trainee) is not easy and tough.

And yes! usually kena imos will end up as a sailor on board a warship

Vocation such as
Marine Engineer - ship engine
Electric Engineer - ship electricity / generator
Chef - cook of course! usually for regular
Weapons - the guns are all yours!
Communication - Walkie talkie.. Intelligent unit (know many language)..
Underwater - not divers! but some classified vocation, usually for regular.
Navigator - radar, chartwork, gps,


If you have attitude problem and don't want to sail, can.
you get posted to Horsburgh Lighthouse and man that island.
You go google the location and you will know why many don't want to go there for their ns life.


anyway, you will be either at Tuas or Changi. as simple as that.

you would realize that the Navy BMT is more sticker and more regimental that Tekong.

Choose your vocation wisely.
By the way, is "Bai-Yi" still the Inst Coxn?

slack all you can in IMOS.
coz after IMOS when you get posting to ship, life can be worst than Tekong.

good thing is, ship is all 9-5 vocation but subjected to sailing schedule.
(until you pass everything, prepare to stay onboard, but boils down to diff ship culture.)

haha worst time is first few month onboard ship isn't it?
esp if you go those corvette ship (mcv, frigate)

yeah.. ord go ipershub shake hand with the dxo, take cert and nric, drive past my ship one more time and bye bye.
