First time here to backpack...

1) How can I acceas Facebook here? Do know need VPN but whenever I choose to find a VPN website in search engine..its blocked...

Anyone can advise how?

2) Planning to go to Mutianyu Great Wall..not joining tour...taking transport alone..

Researched that it's usually 867 that goes there but the service had stopped for winter..so I need to take 916 instead and take a taxi there.

Is that correct or am I far better off taking a tour from my hostel instead which is less of a hassle?

>> Yes. You need vpn. Try getting a SIM card with VPN from www.3gsolutions.com.cn

I use their service when I was in Beijing. Very good. They send the SIM card directly to your hotel. Not advertising. If don't believe, can search the web for 3gsolutions

>> Yes. You need to take bus 916 express (remember it is express or "kuai" in chinese) to Huairou. The bus is in DongZhiMen Bus Station. From there, you can take one of the black taxis to Mutianyu. Total time is 1.5 hours. You would not regret visiting Mutianyu. I was there and find it to be much better than Badaling. Try taking the toboggan down. Note that it is very cold now.

Taking tour is expensive. Up to you to decide. Enjoy your trip.
