Hi all, I am using a 2012 i7 2.6Ghz MBP. My HDD has smart status failure. So i was thinking of using this chance to upgrade into a SSD. However, i dont know what to buy. Can someone recommend me something? My concern is the compatibility with Mac.

Actually I was also looking SSD to upgrade my mbp 2012 model. Was looking at simlim and the guy recommend Evo as it the only one with 1tb. Was thinking upgrading when the Yosemite is out.
But as I was reading the SSD, it did mention that using it for 1 year, SSD will slow down due to rewriting allocation.

Do you really need 1tb? Use a external drive for storage. The MX100 512gb now most value for money on amazon.

My iTunes collection already more then 500gb. As a father, I also load my baby photo and every time I fly, or I sync my iPad and iPhone, I find troublesome to mount the hdd then sync. Currently also using 1tb hybrid drive, the storage is just nice for me.

But then think about it, just another hardware inside computer. Might as well save $$$ to buy iPad or iPhone later.

if you don't need the optical bay (or only needs it occasionally): buy an optical disc caddy (ebay, amazon), replace the optical drive and installs a 1TB 2.5HDD. You'll have a SSD (as the boot drive) and a 1TB HDD for your data (iPhotos, iTunes etc) and don't need to pay a bomb for 1TB SSD. Get a external USB to house your optical drive.

I thought nowsadays people change internal SSD and buy a NAS put at home. Then you can add your HDD to your current NAS (if you own one) and got 1TB cloud drive. Why still bring around, put inside optical drive somemore.

SSD are meant to do its job of read/write. most users find ssd "slow" after couple of months or a year is NOT due to it's rewriting allocation rather, we are tooooo used to the speed of ssd till we find it slow. Too fast of a thing over a period of time becomes SLOW.

The Intel 530 didn't work on my MBP 2010, gave up, sold it and bought a Plextor M5 Pro.

Previously using OCZ Vertex 3, works fine.
