In the market for a PC

Hey guys,

We live in exciting times. My old PC has finally given up and I'm in a market for a new PC. I've been out of the PC game for a very long time and am very excited with how AMD seems to be coming back strong. So tentatively, im looking at next year Q1 for AMD to show and and for independent reviews to be out on their CPUs and GPUs.


I'm also thinking of learning how to DIY a PC so I have a few questions with regards to sourcing for parts.

I understand Newegg is an option. I'm also considering getting my parts from Sim Lim locally.

Any good reputable shops in SLS to go shopping for parts? Or do you guys have other channels to get PC components?

You can look at all the previous threads on this. People usually recommend the same few shops such as PC Themes, Fuwell etc. They also have online portals in Lazada but it's more fun to go down in person and hunt parts

Yeh, Pc Themes, Fuwell, Dynacoretech are usual names we read about. You can download their price list to see the prices. Then can survey online to compare prices.

Buying online from these shops are ok too. With vouchers etc, you can get it cheaper than buying at the shop itself.

Online, you can also buy direct from distributors like Convergent, Crucial etc. During big sales, they have great discounts too. Buy from them = assured warranty.

Speaking about warranty. Some products have 5 yr warranties, but when you buy it from 3rd party shops, they only offer 1-3 yrs SHOP warranty, so you need to read the fine print if you not buying from reputable shops/distributors.

Once you have an idea about base prices, then can camp in this forum during 11.11 or black friday where good buys are sure to be highlighted.

There is a user in this forum called @fortran who forumers recommend if you want to DIY pc, but Im not sure if he still does DIY projects.

Just remember to have fun with this. If you are not too sure, you can try sim lim, but just a little youtube video here and there should be able to train you on how to set up a DIY on your own.

Look for parts on amazon or other parts online.

If u have the spare time, go SLS to hunt for parts.....

or to save the hassle, just shop online will do....
