Hi All

We (me 50% and my wife 50%) bought a condo and recently rented it out for $2200. We live in a HDB. My wife NOT working and my kid will start primary in two years time. I have the following query:

1. To minimise our income tax. Should we (me and my wife) file individual tax retuns or should we do jointly?
2. What are the items we can claim relief from the RENTAL income? I know we can on mortage interest, condo maintenance fee and property tax. Anything else?

Thank you.

Generally it's always better to file separate returns.

As for rental income, if you paid an agent to find the tenant you can claim the commission.
