Hi guys. Recently booked from agent flight ticket. Etihad airways. Receive confirmation already. And only today just found out that my name is missing one character. Like Miceal. Without the H as in Micheal. So what do I do now? Anyone experienced this before? My friend told me that don't worry, later when check in at counter just show your passport and They do the neccassary things. I called the agent on this and they told me they are going to charge for this change made.

Over the counter, be nice to the people and state your case to them clearly.
Tell them that you submitted your details to your travel agent and realized that there is a mistake on your name.
You called back to them immediately. They told you that it can be changed over at the counter.
And then ask them nicely if it can be done and whether there's a fee for it?

There shouldn't be any problem. A lot of the time it's due to Chinese names, and the people at the counter are normally quite nice, and you should not have any issue. Just remember to be polite and ask nicely.
Only downside I see is if there are self check in counters, then you will have to proceed to the counter, as your name on your passport doesn't match your booking name.

By the book this is considered name change, which either cost $$ or cannot be changed depending on your ticket condition.
But if u call the hotline and appeal to the CSO, they may on goodwill waive the change fee

You booked with agent, is your ticket issued already or just a reservation? Ticket not issued (no ticket nbr), then can change for free.
CSO meaning?

Call already the agent regarding this. But according to the etihad policy, consider amend name need pay 100. Haiyooo..
Issued your lan la, boarding pass can do on the spot you check in. Any correction can be amended over the counter too.
Relax lor don't need so vulgar. I'm saying coz I'm not a frequent flyer, so any much info is much appreciated.
Anyways. Thank you for your feedback. That's why I'm abit 50 50 on either side. Some people say you can chnage it at the counter, shld be no issue. Some say could be an issue depends on the person on that day, could deny entry..

On the day of departure, when doing your check in, just inform over the counter can liao la. No need confuse and scare yourself so much.

Since it is etihad airways. Once you have the booking number, just give Etihad call center a ring and ask for assistance.
Explain to the Etihad CSO over the phone that your travel agency made the mistake on your name spelling but refuses to admit the mistake and make the necessary changes...Yet still want to charge you $ for a mistake not done by you...
That's why you are calling in to seek help and see if etihad is able to change the passenger details over the phone...
Listen to the advice given by the Etihad CSO. If they say that the staffs at the airport check-in counter is able to assist you and do a name change with no extra charges, request for an email to be sent to you regarding this conversation, so that you can print it out and show it to the officers at the Etihad check-in counters.
That email is extremely important because the etihad ground staffs are usually not informed about your conversation with their CSO

Agree with above approach. Engage Etihad directly. I made mistakes on my online booking at Air China and was able to make changes to my booking particulars over a phone call.
Call Etihad, tell them there's an alphabet omitted from your name. Ask them if they can write a message/note in the PNR saying name should read as xxx/xxx (correct name). The checkin staff will issue the boarding pass as per your name in your passport.
Called etihad. And they say 2 options.
1) take the risk and when check in as for the ammendment. But depends on who the counter lady on that day.
If let say I manage to change the name thanks to the counter lady. How about my flights coming back? Didn't get the thought of asking this. If the counter lady on the other side wasn't as nice as here. The same problem exist.
2) just make the ammendment about $200 for all.
