Anyone travelled to India recently?

Did some research on their Visas, it seems that the VOA (Visa on Arrival) is just to rip unknowing tourists of USD$60.. Searched through the forums and the cheapest would be getting a Visa for S$50 at Mustafa.

Have some questions regarding this though; is there a minimum duration for Visa application before travelling? Eg. I have to apply for the visa locally 2 months(?) before the date of my flight into India?

Appreciate any help in advance!

mustafa will not be the cheapest. they had lost their authorised agent status.

if you are holding singapore passport, tourist visa is valid for 6months.
Fee should be S$48.

Im a singaporean indian. I just travelled to india in dec for a month and here is my advise.

Cheapest you can find is S$48. Apply through VFS Global, worldwideweb vfsglobal.com/india/singapore/]India Visa Information - Singapore - Home Page[/url] .

You will need to go down on 2 days, one to hand in your passport and application form. The second visit would be to collect your passport & visa. It should take about 2 to 3 working days. I also believe you can get your passport couriered back to you for an additional $10.

When applying, there various options, ie. 3 months, 6 months etc. Select the 6 months multiple entry as this is cheapest option (strangely enough).

Good luck!

Do you need to bring booking receipt of air tickets as well?

If yes, does it need to be return tickets?Or one way ticket will do just fine?

i traveled india this January with VOA, the custom officer are very psychotic about the requirement for the visa. They asked me for proof of return ticket and a hotel booking, and they are very strict to the extend on deporting someone. And the duration of VOA will depend on your return ticket, not sure what the maximum...

NEVER NEVER apply VOA in India. Unless you need to travel urgently.
Many horror story I heard from my colleague who frequent India. You may get deported.

Applying India Visa in Singapore is a breeze......super easy.
No quee if you submit at night around 9-10pm
