live in a 4-rm HDB with a 6 month old baby, planning to get a indo helper as wife planning to get back to work in Nov 2018. Was told by the agency the following, wondering if it’s accurate?

Monthly pay: $550 (agency package around $2.5K) for a 24 year old with 3 years indo experience.

By right every week must give 1 day off else compensate the day off. So we are thinking of giving a day off a month and compensate 3 days.

HP can use 1-2 hrs at night.

the Indo pay is about there...for those with experience in sg is about 580 (i think)
you can nego the off days, just compensate about $20 +++ for each off day.
they are human too, usage of hp should be after all daily chores are done .....pinoy are probably the more demanding (imo worst), they need it 24/7...maybe selling stuff via carousel. lol

my advice is to get your IP cam set up before your helper come. ; )

fees are accurate... trust me, after seeing and hearing some horror stories regarding domestic helpers, and after a while, cost is secondary already. Most importantly is, she is able to work and independent.

If I understand correctly, I think nowadays transfer maid, demanding $650 with every week off with at least 12hrs timing and a room by herself. The new Maid is $550, every week off but u need to pay to the agency her 6 month salary first then deduct from the maid first 6 month with no salary.

24yr old too young if you are intending to have her take care of the baby. I suggest to get an older lady, best if she has kids herself.

Cost is about right but you must take into consideration the following:

1. 6 monthly check up (pregnancy test)
2. Food and necessities for the helper
3. In case she have toothache etc, you have to bear the cost of bringing her to the dentist etc
4. Higher tariff bill cause extra occupant

So you can’t just take $550 as fixed cost.

You can try trust manpower. Got my helper there. Apparently they forbid helper to bring hp into singapore. This at least give a head start to employer. You don’t have to worry she is always on the phone. If the helper is reliable, you can then decide if you wish to get her a phone.

I know it sounds cruel not give her cruel that you forbid phone for helper.. but I ever see helper walk on street with eyes glued to phone while the young children just run around near the road. At least it gives you an option if you wish to give or not.

Is transfer or new maid better?

I prefer indo helper because they more conservative (because of their religion) and won’t wear revealing clothes etc.

Bad side is they don’t eat pork. But I am willing to respect that and not force them to cook or take pork. ((Usuall helper can help handle but not eat. But we just gave up all together out of respect)

Transfer or fresh really depends.
Transfer if worked in Sin for more than 5 years, Then should be good. Anything more than 5... there is a risk that helper is pick and choose employer and might not be good. More than 5 years will likely means they have the experience they need too.

Fresh ones headache will be language barrier initially. Cause thy speak their own local language. But they learn really fast! Mine fresh started with difficulties in speaking English but after just 3 months she is now able to hold a conversation flutely.

Really depends what is your priority and if you willing to cut down on eating pork (usually they can handle pork.. just that I find it wasteful if she cook pork for us but she can’t eat then ended up she have to cook fish/chicken for herself) then indo better.

If you want someone who can communicate to you in English fluently, then PH helper.

Setup IP camera
Setup WiFi Parental Control to limit usage during late night to prevent them from chatting in the middle of the night.
Have a safe box for all your golds, passports, rolex, tiffany stuffs.
Don't treat them too nice.
