i assume you're going there to shop?

Bandung is generally laid-back (at least to me) and quiet.. wouldn't go there if not for the shopping available!

There are many many many outlet stores to visit there.. I liked Rumah Mode the best given the huge variety of items inside. Some people debated on whether the goods sold in the outlet stores are authentic but from my own judgement, even if it is a replica, the quality is also very good.

There's a jeans street (with the superhero characters on the signboard) which I feel is a waste of time.. Didn't bother to check out the nearby scenery and attractions since my purpose there was purely to shop.

How long will you be there?

I stayed at Grand Serela Hotel which is pretty well located along the stretch of outlet stores. Room was ok, nothing to shout about. Distance to airport, I am not sure as I took the train from Bandung back to Jakarta before flying back to SG.

If you are staying there for a short period only, consider staying directly opposite Rumah Mode outlet. There is a nice hotel which I can't remember its name..

Sightseeing wise, I read on TripAdvisor and some forums that there is nothing to see and traveling out is a waste of time.. do your research and decide for yourself.. cannot help you on this :D

The place is typically safe. Walked around in the early evening with only my partner and did not feel threatened in any ways.

if you want to do sightseeing, a driver can be very handy. Traveling everywhere is typically easy since taxis are aplenty and the fares are very affordable.

Bandung should be pretty safe. Many Singaporeans and Malaysians visited.
Enjoy your trip.

The volcano you are talking may be the Tangkuban Perahu mountain. But for us Indonesians, the Kawah Putih (White crater) has become more popular destination. You can google for the picture.

My suggestion for your trip, buy some cakes from Kartika Sari. They are famous for brownies, cakes and snacks. Ask the driver to get you to the original store, not small shop by the main street.

Have fun!
