Indonesia Telkomsel SIM card

I have a SIM card from Telkomsel Indonesia and would like to check if it is still active, but apparently you have to be in Telkomsel's coverage area.

Does anybody know how one can check SIM card validity without going to Indonesia?

Telkomsel local partner is Singtel. I usually just pop into phone, and it will connect via Singtel. Just key in *888# Call to check card info.

you can roam or you could get telkomsel signal in some parts of singapore.

you could also use the app.

if your card cannot register to any network, it probably means the number is dead.

It does not register with Singtel. Tried to download app and use it - the same result.

indonesia prepaids are infamous for short lives. credit validity depends on topup amount e.g 25k gives you 30 days and after that comes the grace period of 30 days. beyond that your card is toast.

might be better to get a singapore prepaid card and roam in indonesia.
