Hi Japan Experts

I would like to include Hiroshima in my Japan holiday and would like to ask the few standard rookie questions.

1. Recommended mid range hotel / good area to stay

2. Any unique (not the usual / popular) attraction to visit

3. Recommended days to stay (I was thinking 3 days 2 nights)

Will very much appreciate any tips provided.

Thank you.

1. u can either stay near JR Hiroshima station so it is easier to get around, or near Hondori, which is the shopping street.

2. within the city or day trip out of city?
within the city, u can take a walk around Hijiyama, a small hill with an art museum and manga library at the top. u can also visit their baseball stadium. u can take a look at my trip report for ideas

3. that will depend on the places u wanna go. i would recommend minimally 2 days: one day for miyajima, one day for hiroshima city. additional days needed if u wanna visit places outside city, such as iwakuni

For me, I visited the Peace Memorial Museum (plus the A-dome), and also spent 1 night at Miyajima.

thanks for all the help.

I believe all the places mentioned would certainly cover 3 days 2 nights.

Any other specific hotel names to recommend?

You can try Dormy Inn, it's very near Hondori, 5 mins walk :)

You can try the "Tour of Shichi-Fuku-Jin" where u visit 7 temples/shrines for good luck.

They are north of Hiroshima station which is not near any prominent buildings (mostly among residential areas). Something different other than the Peace Park. Altho most of these 7 temples are quite deserted when i visited them on a weekday.... The whole tour took me 2.5-3hrs.
