I'm staying in the west and got posted to IT course in NYP. However, I would like to study in SP because it is nearer and more accessible for me. I am considering appealing to SP but they only offer Computer Engineering. Should I just leave it as it is and study IT in NYP or appeal to get into SP to study Computer Engineering, which is a better course?

If you intend to become a software/web developer (programming), take NYP IT. SP CE is more towards IT in networking/infrastructure side.

Feel free to appeal to the poly nearer to your house.
All polytechnics are the same in the eyes of universities and employers. As long as you do well in your course, that is all that matters.

I'd say SP's Computer Engineering is a better course compare to NYP's IT. As you can see from SP's course structure (What will you study), they actually did a great job at preparing you for your further studies. As you graduate from SP with Comp Eng, you will find yourself to have a broader choices in your further education.

If you wish to pursue a career in STEM fields, go for Comp Eng. As I recall, NYP's IT has only 2 mathematics modules. You may think it's a good thing that it has lesser mathematics, but you may suffer it in the future, especially in University, if you are not equipped properly.

It's practically comes down to Computer Science Vs. Computer Engineering which is a hot topic if you do a Google search.

Go for the one with more Engineering maths.

Poly engineering maths (in fact any poly module) is manageable if you consistently do your tutorials and attend lectures.

Personally I am from E Maths background and coped well with the engineering maths at poly level.

You will hear people / peers saying students with A Maths background cope better with poly engineering maths, yah right :s8::s8::s8:.
