This is a power thread, so much wisdom....So has anyone used the L6160 / 70 / 90? Is it going to hard lock after 50,000 pages? Interested in this series because it has ink tank + fast (I think) duplex?

Is the resetting still possible, or not needed (L6160 has maintenance box to throw out waste ink)?

Cannot use 3rd party inks anymore, because of the unique refill nozzle?

dont know about newer models u can try and feedback.

For what it's worth:
Called Epson, when I asked whether the L6100 series printer will have issues if I continue to print beyond the 50,000 pages, they say no problem, just that warranty will expire...ink pad full is now taken care of by replacing the maintenance box....

Haiz, still a bit suspicious of them....all these counter reset issues....wary how they always try to engineer these pitfalls to screw you over....

I mean is it good ?

Some printers just sucks... Even using photo paper

Think probably hard for anyone to answer, given there're many variables, including your standard might be different from another person's...and whether you trust review sites...most reviews say the results with photo paper are great - amazing....

Personally, if it's really bad/below average, I think there'll be an outcry already....

There is a lack of printer reviews....

And most just tell function... Dont focus on quality

Does the ink evaporate over time if not using for a while?

If I remembered correctly, it was about 10 year ago, I bought a Epson inkjet colour multi-function printer. At first time use, all the cartridges are 100% full and I only used to print a few pages. Stopped using for a few months, then found the ink dropped to like 70%. Half a year later, 2 of the cartridges were empty. Total pages printed < 10 pages.

Bought new original cartridges to replace. Same problem, ink evaporated and become empty again.

I only used occasionally, and each time only print 1 or a few pages at a time. Total page printed < 20 pages.... but already used more then 6 cartridges! Decided to dumped the printer, total damage ~$350. Bought a laser printer, and never look back.

Recently someone told me he wanted to buy inkjet printer and ask my opinion. I don’t know what to tell him.

Since my experience was over 10 year ago, i don’t know if the issue is still present currently or maybe technology has improved. So, I would like to ask if any users here has experiencd ink evaporated or dry out over time? If not what is the brand/model u r using? TIA.

if lucky, ink evaporate
if unlucky, printer head clogged.

printer technology is very limited... they just add in more features.

laser printer good for printing documents and occasional usage.
inkjet can print on photo paper and good for colorful images but hard to maintain.....:s22:

Have a 2yr old Canon G2000.
Today switched on the printer and the Resume button was blinking orange light 7 times.

Windows says the printer has an error 7B00.
Googled and seems like many variations of solutions. Tried a few and did not manage to resolve. Anyone got the same issue? Or time to say bye bye and hi to new printer?

I do attempt to use it when possible, if no, I print colour patterns weekly.

I got a Canon G5070 a month ago and printed some photos that went on the fridge. Original ink, Canon photo paper.

Photos were hopelessly faded in less than a month.

So, print permanence is another factor to consider when getting a photo printer.

Epson ecotank printer telling me to reset ink levels (refill), but visually the black still available. As long as the ink level is above that last line with arrow/inverted triangle, should be fine right?
