Hello experts,

Can i get some comments on this setup that i've put together for quite a large amount of video work.

My priorities are transcoding/render performance, using premiere pro, after effects and various video software to convert, edit export etc.

I also want this build to be silent and takes up the least amount of space as I will be placing it on a shelve above my monitor.

I would also be doing some gaming on it but nothing too hardcore.

Anything i can improve? Might be getting the RAMS from amazon. The rest prob PC themes

4K videos? Heavy effects? Complex timeline? Multiple applications rendering? If yes, I think x99 or enthusiast platform good for growth later on.

For me now I am facing monitor 'bottleneck' as I only use 1 27" 1440p screen. Don't want to keep squinting and alt+tabbing to other things.

Anyway, I am mainly doing 1080p now, I feel it's still alright, but the allure of the enthusiast platform is strong, haha.

think ill be working on 1080i only. but possibly in 2-3 years 4k will be the in thing. if the price between an x99 and z97 board +cpu is not that far away i dont mind busting a bit more to get. Monitor wise i dont have space for 3, so 1 will have to do i guess.

Any Micro ATX X99 boards to recommend? DDR4 also not that cheap.

much better to get 980 or 970, cuda cores helps a lot too with the render time..
ram 32gb or more, no need to get the fastest one, volume over speed.:D
ddr4 not that expensive, 16gb 2400mhz is now at 150$USD. previously it was 300$USD.

if space is not an issue, 2xu2515h is better than 1xu2715h...

quite tempted to get x99 system actually.
Budget around $3.5k without the monitor.
But impt that this system is decently quiet. Think ill go insane with a noisy PC near the top of my head.

You can get 'quiet' fans like Gentle Typhoons (which my entire rig is), Noctua (also using it), or San Ace 9S series (I have some for sale) and a good casing with foam padding (to muffle the whirring sound), like the Define R5.

X99 mitx mobo only two slots of ram defeat the purpose of x99.

Not everyone that go for a X99 are using for photo/video editing. Some just want a X99 for the kick of it.

X99 itx with 2x 16GB DDR4 sounds alright too.

I ever consider asrock and those matx board that have quad ram support but I think 16gb not enough for me.
I planning to upgrade after ram price drop.

But maybe I will reconsider it since I can fit this itx into 350d which I wanted to get initially.

Just like not everyone who buys a Lambo wants to drive at 280km/h right :s13:

1x 16GB. 2 gives you 32GB. 4 gives you 64GB. :D :D :D

Not everything must be 4 or 8.

:D :D :D

Enjoy ur hoot ~
