Hi I just got myself a MBA and would like to install windows using the parallels method. I have a few enquires and hope someone could give me some advice :

1) I plan to buy win7or 8 from SLS and since MBA does not have cd drive, does anyone knows if I can download the installer file from Microsoft website using the product key? I tried seeking help from the Microsoft live chat but can't get a definite answer from them.

2) I read it online that I can copy the windows content to a bootable USB. Does this work with parallels method? Cos I really do not want to get a apple SuperDrive.

3) I also read it online about remote drive sharing. But apple website mention this method does not work for windows installation cd. Nit sure whether is it only not workable for boot camp?

Thanks!

Yes, download .iso directly from Microsoft servers. Just need to find through websites that link to there.

The CD key, be it OEM or Retail from your boxes, will work with .iso downloaded online. So long they are the same version and language.

Google online on making bootable USB drive from Windows CD.

Alternatively, obtain the .iso, use the build in boot camp assistant and create the bootable Windows USB installer.

Perhaps not worth trying. May be pretty unstable.

Or, to save all your trouble on downloading .iso/create USB drive etc, just buy any external USB powered DVD reader/writer from SLS. Probably cost around <$50. I'll not answer anything related to compatibility. Use some sense on that.
