best to reformat to avoid incompatibility issues if there's any.

hm but wont it reformat my ssd when im installing the new os?

Depending on the size of your ssd, the setup may/may not create another partition to install the OS. So if you don't want to do a dual boot, best to select and format current OS partition.

ok. well i wont have access to another windows set up. this is what im planning to do so correct me if im wrong. anyways its a samsung 850 evo 256gb. just 2 months old and never been more than 65% full.

1. install windows on my secondary hdd.
2. boot up and then quick format my ssd.
3. then proceed on to do up my new rig and just install windows on my ssd as per normal.

You can skip step 1 & 2 and boot into your OS setup disk/thumb drive and delete current partition to install the OS.

Remember to set your sata mode to AHCI in Bios before u install the new os if it isn't already in AHCI mode.

AHCI mode - faster.

If you set it after u install the os you will not be able to boot to Windows (although u can set it back to whatever mode it is and when u get to Windows, use a registry key to enable AHCI mode)
