hang on. why are we talking about f&f? with or without amaze the f&f card still earns you the same amount of cashback. you really just using it for the extra 0.5% that is capped at $50? penny pinching much?

You can spend overseas and save on up to 3.5% forex. That is the main purpose of this card anyway.

The secondary purpose is to allow easy switching of cards.

If all you have been using this card for is to convert offline transactions to online transactions for WWMC & CRMC, the, yes, this card is pointless now. Actually, I would suggest that it has always been pretty pointless for that purpose. Between UOB PPV, VS & HSBC Revolution, I have $4k per month of 4 mpd via paywave, which is more than enough for most monthly offline expenditures.

But for the rest of us, this card is useful on so many other levels & will continue to hold a place in our wallets. & no, the 0.5% is not the killer function.
Not really. Wwmc had easier exclusions which made it good

1% fx markup is still better than swiping the credit card itself

you just need one bad transaction to lose you all the benefits. wrong mcc or need to chargeback.

Don't get your point about wrong MCC. Charge directly or to Amaze, MCC is still the same MCC, why suddenly will be wrong? You just want to find problems when there is none.

Not sure the point you are trying to make here, but if you couldn't manage the small list of exclusions for UOB PPV/VS (or Citi, or HSBC), I'm surprised you could manage DBS's own list of exclusions.

These same issues exist while DBS was still giving out points for this card, so I'm not sure how DBS excluding all Amaze transactions from rewards make this a problem now.

Frankly, if you have an issue with the way the card works, that's fine. Nobody is saying it is perfect. The arguments you raised are well known, even when DBS was giving points (well, except for the 'wrong MCC' argument. I've no idea what that has to do with Amaze). But if you are going to argue that it is useless come June 1st just because one bank is no longer offering rewards for transactions through the card, you need to come up with arguments other than generic problems with the card.

true that. sigh so should i use revolut or youtrip instead?
By his theory, better to just use cash. Safe from MCCs, & chargebacks.

the difference is amaze is a debit card and there is one extra layer of middleman for chargebacks. using the underlying card you have a direct access to fraud protection and chargebacks vs being reliant on the grace of instarem. if you don't understand the difference, go look at the reports for amaze and gpmc on blogs like milelion.

Revolut and Youtrip have 5k limit and then weekend 1% higher rate. I just prefer Amaze, there is nothing to plan, you need to spend like 10k, you can swipe and it will go through without issues. While travelling the most important thing is not to get stranded. So it is good to have some backup options. If Amaze works fine, I will just use it. If there is 1% markup in exchange rate then so be it.

Yes, & as I mentioned, this is a known issue. There are people who will not use Amaze because of this & that's fair. But I don't see how this problem relate to this statement you made earlier.

you guys ready to say goodbye to this card? tomorrow is the last day for wwmc. after that can bury the card

(since the problem has existed even while DBS was offering points for Amaze transactions)

Are you going to raise a dispute with your bank for a few cents/dollars in rebate because you forgot to use the right card?

PSA to everyone: remember to remove your DBS cards from Amaze starting from today.

How to tell if transaction is excluded? Mine says category is "miscellaneous".

Stupid when I need this card the most, it just don't work even once. Morning till night everytime I try Amaze, all rejected. "We're writing to let you know that your transaction of KRW 2,000 at SSIYU(CU) IN was declined due to our security and risk policy." 12 different transactions all rejected.

I'm surprised Korea is totally cannot mobile contactless kind, they're super reliant on MST card technology still. given I kept thinking Korea is super advanced nation I went there with my Samsung Pay cards, Amaze and Revolut. Samsung pay can't even tap without MST unless I bring my older phone models. Only Revolut saved my day at the end.

Did you enable Cross-Border Transactions & Magstripe Transactions?

Nope swipe also cannot. It's the security thingy that stops txn. I have a multicurrency card that is promoted to be used overseas but end up it just blocks itself. Great.

Both charges are like few hours apart. Instarem charge 1% FX fees compared to YouTrip. The amount is small so no 1% rebate. Just try try for fun.
