The value proposition of Amaze is no longer clear to me. The mark-up is now 1% less than the original credit card's in most instances. Instead of linking a card (which necessarily needs to be a MasterCard) with Amaze, why not just avoid the hassle and use the original credit card (MasterCard OR Visa!) that we have - with bonus categories where available.

Because you can still get 4mpd PLUS a 1% worse case discount over typical credit card markups. And InstaPoints for another 1% if you collect enough to redeem.

My transaction on 6th gave me 3.25rm to 1sgd. Mastercard rates is 3.31 on that day.

Yes, it will still post as failed transaction even for legit case (e.g. you made a transaction but forgot to unlock your card). My guess is Instarem will post all transactions attempted.

Yes, happened to mine before too. So I’ve to make sure to lock until I want to use it. Use of Amaze is from the linked credit card unlike say Youtrip, so still got to deal with the bank when fraudulent charges happen if not locked.

I just applied for Revolut and still figuring out exactly how to lock that before I put any $ in.

But Amaze rates have progressively been getting worse, now easily 2.5% markup over spot. Still generally a good deal paired with the right card, but attractiveness falling fast.
