An insurance agent told me to login my insurance account to send him my current policy details to review so as to check if there's any better policy. May I know if is safe to do so? I mean can an insurance agent do anything with my policy without my knowledge?

Hide your personal details? Then whatever they get is just numbers and words?

Do you trust this agent?
Is this agent someone u truly know or some random agent?
Would you give your bank account statement to a random 'consultant' to let him see if there is a better fixed deposit than the ones u r holding?

Strictly speaking, the agent probably can't do anything to your policies but do you trust giving sensitive private information to a third party?

I am not sure what is the purpose or agenda of doing so.
I won't provide details of my policies to other agents.

Sounds like the agent might psycho you to cancel your "lousy" policy and buy from her/her, perhaps ?

You can just give your policies name, don't have to be the whole soft copy policies. From other posters mentioned, seems to be trying to upsell another policies.

surely it is to do review and upsell. I am an agent myself. I know what the agent is doing. He is doing so to do some savings here and there. Such as term plan might be cheaper buying from another insurer etc.

It's a random insurance agent and he told me to login my policy and he screenshot all of it, saying will review my policy if there's better policy on next meet, so is it a norm to do so? I was in a rush so didn't think much, but now I fear he may do something on my policy as he has all the softcopy.

Can't comment on whether it's a norm but leaking sensitive private information is something I would not do. As mentioned before, it is unlikely he can do anything to your policy directly as insurers would typically need a signed instruction to make any material changes.

There is no need to fear as the beneficiary is not the insurance agent. At most, you get more encouragement/harassments if there are gaps in your coverage.

I reviewed my policies over the past 1-2 years and cancelled a few that overlap. It took me so long as I had to create accounts and login to download the details, then summarise in an Excel. Some policies also took me some time to read, understand and compare across.

The ones to really keep are the hospitalisation plan and life insurance. For the former, the costs will spike once one is hospitalised, while the latter only really pays out well at the last 2-3 years before maturity.

Now I'm reviewing the integrated shield plan but I have to slow down a bit here. There is a turbulence at the moment as the insurance companies are switching to co-payment mode, claim-based premium and adjusting the coverage.

The review will get a lot more complicated if one has existing conditions that make switching or buying new ones more costly and tough.
