I wanted to buy i-save endowment from them. They ask me to write a cheque payable to China Taiping. I was puzzle because the legal entity name for China Taiping is China Taiping (insurance) pte ltd.

This is my worry.

Huh? I went through their "about me" and "why DIYinsure" before i give my comment. They are exempt license from MAS so they do have some knowledge and credible experience in order to do this business.

Make the check payable to:

China Taiping Insurance (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.

Cross it, and strike out "or Bearer." Send it in if you're otherwise comfortable. If InsureDIY complains, then you might have something to worry about.

I was a bit uncomfortable with the fact that they had many mandatory questions in their online form when I wanted to sign up for the endowment plan, including income etc

This one pretty much no choice based on the KYC and also for PEP and AML (know your client, politically exposed person, and anti money laundering). Requirement for any insurance and finance services.
