Hi all,

Thought we could have a thread on intel 10th gen idle/load temps, Socket VS core.

Just built a new rig:
NZXT h510 - 2 intake , 2 exhaust
Cryorig M9i - Did a cross pattern application
i7 10700
MSI Gaming edge wifi Z490


My initial boot idle is like 41-45C
With around 5 chrome tabs and steam running - 48-54C
CPUID stress test 3 mins - 79 - 83C
Temps are CPU CORE T.

Is that acceptable/ normal in singapore?
Im more worried about low load/idle going to 50+C

I feel as long as it is not causing any noticible issues, there is nothing to be concerned about. Load temps may go higher based on the cooler that you are using, depending on the load and the duration you run the test.

Exactly. Run LLC high and set your Vcore manually. It reduces temps by around 3-5 degrees.
As an indication, use the following baseline voltages for your 10700 with Loadline Calibration on High :

5.0Ghz - 1.3V
5.1Ghz - 1.33V
5.2Ghz - 1.36V

You can also bump your ring bus to 47 easily with the above voltages. See which one works out for you but start with 5.0Ghz and compare the difference with stock on auto. This will set all your cores to run at that frequency.

CPU-ID stress tests are not recommended to really check your thermal limits. Run something like P95 small FFTs or AIDA64 stability test to see how your temps are as that will be much more accurate on how stable your system is.

To be honest, I'd recommend at least a bequiet dark rock pro 4 at minimum if aaircooling. But if you can set it manually and have the temps lower, you're good.

Thanks for the info, i did not know its auto 'overclocked' on a non-k CPU, I will try to learn more before going to set Vcore manually.

I tried going into BIOS to disable MCE, but couldnt find such a setting. I will explore the BIOS settings, my aim is to just have a lower idle temp, wouldnt want to have all core turbo, especially when i dont do any heavy rendering.

And when you say below 95C, you mean Socket temp or Core temp?

It is not overclocked stock on the CPU rather the auto voltages are crazy when MCE is enabled. What board are you using? Maybe non-K versions may not have the MCE option.

Wow thanks, this software is really good, sooo much info. Im using MSI gaming edge Z490 wifi. Looking at around CPU current = 46X100Mhz @ 1.2496V

Theres a bunch of other voltages flying around , think i might just leave it as it is, until i learn how to adjust voltage properly. Idling at 45C now.
