Nice oc results but not nice on voltage..... 1.4V...... confirm the CPU won't last long since we know Haswell is sensitive to voltage.. So not for daily use......

1.4V is insane.

Very fast degrade. Probably give you 1 gen difference and the chip will need to go beyond the 1.4v mark to maintain oc.

Now they add extra capacitors to the back of the CPU..... Something which they left out on original HAswell (but done to IB and SB)

Actually its the voltage that matter. Once u can OC with lower voltage, indirectly u will result in better temps.


We shall see some official review with OC result to determined anything.

To add on, if it can run 4.4GHz using its cheapo integrated Heatsink. Maybe its really good temp?

polymer... maybe referring to the epoxy-like material gluing down the heatspreader, like the black residue marks u see pple scraping off after delid...

Availability might be earlier than anticipated. It could be in retail store as soon as End of June, rather than Sept as some sources have suggested.

We already have these (or even more) privileges and enhancements in former gen chips years ago, i.e. Sandy Bridge, Westmere, Nehalem, Penryn, Conroe. Intel simply took away these enhancements from current gen chips, anticipate the mass to make noise and then reintroduce them as overclocking enhancement features. Intel, you stinky little brat.

Anyway the heat issue prevail for a long time. Intel did mention their reason for not using fluxless solder. IIRC the small die size with solder cause the chip to crack easily.

The black residue is a silicone based gasket sealant not epoxy. To remove epoxy you need heat or some sort of solvent. I DIYed my 4770k delid so that's what i feel it is.

The TIM for Haswell is actually similar to those used in power amplifiers for radar transmitters. It drys pretty fast leaving the particles to fill in the space between the 2 surface.

So IF the TIM for Devil Canyon is really some sort of 2-part epoxy TIM and the temps are still crap, there will be a lot of disgruntled ang mo in the OC forums.
