Intel family, model and stepping

How to interpret "Intel64 Family X Model XX Stepping X"?

Intel64 means 64-bit (x64).

But what is Family X? Intel Core, Pentium, 486, 386, 286, x86? :s11:
Model XX? :s11:
Stepping X? :s11:

Is there a lookup to map it to a CPU?

It's just a standard convention in naming a processor version. U can get these info by calling cpuinfo() , so it work for any processors that use this convention.

What to denote in family, mapping, stepping is all up to the manufacturer. Basically, u can loosely compare it to software versioning: family as the major version, mapping as minor, and stepping as revision number
