Intel I7 3930k upgrade options. (AMD Ryzen)

My current system is i7 3930k (~7 years old system) pair with Corsair 16GB 2133 Mhz CL9 ram + RTX2080. Do you think by upgrading it to Ryzen 3700x will I see a significant performance boost in terms of gaming?

If I decided to upgrade, which motherboard should your think I should go for - Asus B550-E which is priced at $440 or Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro Wifi which is currently on sale at amazon for $352.

X570 will definitely be the best option. But looking at feature wise? personally still have the impression that Asus motherboard is superior than Gigabyte.

Plus how much performance gain am i looking at ? thinking spending a good 2k on cpu+motherboard+ram+casing which at the end if the new system only gives you a 10 to 15% jump in gaming performance. Might not be a great move.

Agree,.. wait for Ryzen 4000 to arrive before buying. There are 2 reasons for it: -

1. The new generation will have a performance boost but expect to pay a premium at first launch.
2. The price of the current 3000 series should drop so you should be able to pick one up at a lower price point.

Still in terms of performance gain for gaming do your have any experience ? I3930k technically still quite a beast till today.

Wait imo. I did the calculations also for my
I7-2600k and RTX2070, revamp everything will not give much gains at 1440p and 4K.

Good choice. For me I using the rig with LG 55” C9 gsync 4k60 or 1440p120hz depending on game. Still going strong (but I think next year can change to zen3 and Nvidia 3xxx lol)

try upgrade to 3900X if dont want to wait for 4000 series.
Add a 1tb nvme ssd.

Yes you will have significant boost in games, the fps will be more stable and smoother.

Top ryzen, bottom 5960X at 4.6ghz, old game which is not gpu limited

decide to get a 65" LG cx instead. Shall wait for Zen 3 to be out before i move on to the new system.

I upgraded from x99 + i7 5930K to x570 + 3900X. Gaming aren't a huge diff, but productivity sibei song!! Things like video/photo editing, CAD, etc all fly! Can run so many apps concurrently with so many cores.

In fact, I didn't even bother to overclock the CPU since the rig is already so fast n responsive.
