as technology improves, we just follow, nothing to comment about. plus future chipsets are getting more power hunger.. so just play along or to stay obsolete. is like back then we all use IDE then become Sata and now become M.2. From com port to usb 2 and then 3 and now type c.
just one positive feedback. having the ATX12VO is a much cleaner interface and power efficiency should be even better compared to our 4pin EPS + 24pin feed. Mobo architecture these days are very neat and tidy but with this new standard ATX12VO, I feel that mobo are just like highend euro audio amps.. super clean layout.

Looks like Ryzen 7000 MBs could be ATX 3.0 as well. MSI has already launched an ATX 3.0 compliant desktop so manufacturers already had the new specs for some time.

The PSU upgrade is expected with the new GPUs being so power-hungry. Thought my 1200W Corsair AXi Platinum can last another round of upgrades. Oh well .... looks like a full upgrade except for HDD.

well there should be a converter adaptor but will need to sort out your reels to make it ATX12VO. Sorry ya.. don't mind me saying. whoever says future proof, I just say don't depend on it. so much changes. best way to purchase stuff is within 5 years margin, nothing is future prove. If getting PC right now, just think will you hold on to the pc for at least 3 to 4 years. dont go think side ways upgrade, to me is a waste of time. putting new tech in old platform is not the way to go as you won't fully utilized the new technology, just like AMD, those older generation now that has bios upgrade but can they fully utilize PCIE 4.0. don't think so.

Usually, it's concern regarding power efficiency and cooling with the brute force method consumers have supported.

Best way to purchase stuff is within 5 years margin, nothing is future prove. True story. By the time these 'futureproof' things become the minimally acceptable standard. The old platforms will already be obsolete. People would have moved on already. Hence, the five years estimation.

In recent times, the only noteworthy one is upgrading the CPU on AM4 as Zen 3 has a good performance leap from the previous gens. They are bound to land a good deal soon with the continuous price drops. It is about getting the most value for that group rather than having the latest tech.

PCI-E 4.0 didn't matter, especially for gamers. PCI-E 5.0 also did not benefit these gamers at the present moment. Nothing has changed. The benefits, as usual, are coming from GPU, CPU, and RAM. Only mentioning this because most users over here their main concern is gaming.
