Is there a known fixed period or months during a year before or after Intel announces a new or refreshed generation of processors/chipsets? April/May/June?

Seems to me Intel have a habit of announcing this at some regular annual or semi-annual interval, but I am not sure usually which month(s) it usually does it.

Good for snapping up processors at a better price because retailers are clearing stocks from existing or older generations to make way for new generation?

Or just go TradePac, everyday also best price? Best in Rochor and Little India, and some say City Hall...

Unless you're thinking of getting very high end boards/chips or in at least a considerable volume, dont bother. You will save at most 100~(high end boards) or so for buying one or two gen old stuff, but at the risk of almost no warranty or very slow turnaround time for the boards.

For reference, just take a look at how much BanLeong is selling their Asus ROG z77 boards now compared to their original SRP, V Gene is going for $293 on their e-store, SRP $309.
