then you need to attend some classes on the benefits of diversification

I understand sophie.wee.weng is learning FATA from the master. If you acquire the FATA master stock picking skills, maybe no need to diversify. For the rest of us, need to diversify.

So as long as my account value is more than US$100k, I would not be charged any fees (I can reject the price feed, right)? What if I use all the money to buy an asset and its value halved?

Well, then you'll start paying the non-activity fee because your account's fallen below $100k.

Well, you already know what I think about IBKR. I love 'em and wouldn't use anything else.

The account opening process is easy, and it's completely online. The platform's hard to get used to, but once you're used to it it feels totally natural.

You need to keep an eye on dividend withholding taxes, same as you would with any other American stock.

The monthly minimum is $10 to avoid the pro-rated $10 inactivity fee, and $30 to get free market data for that month.

They do allow option selling and shorting of single stocks - they've got pretty much the biggest stock loan inventory of any retail broker.

I've never tried managing orders using anything other than the usual IBKR interface, so I can't speak to that side of it.

Basically they're a bit hard to use at first, and the customer service is a bit perfunctory, but if you know what you're doing they're absolutely brilliant.

Hi. Could you kindly do a youtube and demonstrate online showing how to go about it? I am keen.

If not, would some kind souls would help an old man to set up his first IB account? Thanks.

It's not that hard. Go to this link; click the huge button that says "ProTrack Application"; and follow the instructions. (Click the red "What You Need" button to see what you need to have on hand to fill in the application.

i want to open IB account also!

Us stocks more chance to practise FATA but it's more volatile and will punish you for your mistakes

Eg, Recently, I went to buy oil rig charterers because I felt the valuations were compelling and it was in a consolidation mode. the group broke badly and I got steamrolled over:(

trying to open an acct with IB now.

Besides stocks in the application page, do you tick "forex" so that you can convert your funds later on?

Yep. If they give you a choice between "FX Conversion" and "Leveraged Forex", the one you specifically need is "FX Conversion".

I have already submitted my online application without clicking on the Forex option.

Can I enable that later once my application is approved?

How do I automate the investment of funds from DBS Multiplier >>> IB >>> IWDA+VRWD and declare re-investment of dividends into fund for BOTH (understand that VWRD doesn't have this. is it possible to opt in)?
