yup, i remember doing something like that

Thank you. You have been most helpful. It is pretty obvious that setting up the Citibank bank account was the right thing to do. However, I have to leave SGD5k idling there at near-zero interest rate. This is bad.

Thanks for the information. However, you may wish to double-check again. This is because Citibank is also used by IB as the recipient bank. When sending bank and receiving bank are the same, there will be some cost savings. I think DBS online transfer should be more expensive. But if what you say is true, then those who set up a Citibank account like me to transfer money to IB have made a mistake. Citibank minimum deposit sum is $5000. DBS or any of the local banks is better on this aspect.

I m still able to run TWS on my Thinkpad T43 Pentium M, which is 7-8 year old workhorse.
I find that having enough RAM is more crucial.

well I finally transferred some $ from my Citibank acct to IB
total TT fees was only $30, and IB converted my SGD to USD at a rate of 1.23756, which is pretty nice.
strangely, i have trading permissions for the SGX as well, lol.

Sorry for digging, just opened an IB account and researching how to fund it.

so the best way for me should be (Pls correct me if I am wrong).

1) Open a Citibank account in Singapore (min.2k deposit for sav a/c ?) - why some post mention 5k?
2) T/T the funds into IB account ($30bux)
Done~ ?

DBS or UOB transfer charges are all listed on their websites.
Do look up and read them.

Decided to try with DBS TT, made the transfer already (incurring $10 + $20) , will update once its shown in IB.

Awesomely fast! the funds are in my IB account, triggered the DBS TT at 9am this morning, the funds in liao. Only incurred $30SGD.:)

dbs so far the best... to IB, be it putting in or taking out. Fast and cheap, if not for the long queue during noon :(

those using TWS, are u using IB charts to trade or using 3rd party charting software ?

I find IB charting is not easy to use, so looking for other software if available.
Like to hear some recommendation. Thanks !

I think the TWS charts are as good as bloomberg professional, alot of advance tech tools n parameters available.

Since I can check out those futures prices etc as well, so considered good.. If u want simpler then... maybe check out others
