Hi, I'd like to ask around as to the the degree Japanese and linguistics and the degree Asian studies with Japanese, are these degree purely 'Interest' degree or practical? How viable would one be with such a degree? Anyone with any related information kindly feel free to share your thoughts!
Thanx :)

Sometimes it depends on the institution as well. I know people whom had majored in Asian studies or European studies in nus fass and are able to get good jobs in MNCs and stat boards. Sometimes , it might not be the content of the degree that matters but the skills acquired from reading such a degree.

If interest can be translated to a career, then why not? You may be employed by Japanese companies or those who required some liaison with Japan. You could also be a Japanese language teacher/translator.

And with this degree, you could back it up further with JLPT for language proficiency, and possibly an MBA to hone your business skills.
