The fact that they look like humans indicate that it's likely grandstanding. There is zero reason why robots employed in factories need to look like humans. Why do they need a head? Why are they restricted to only two arms and two feet?
Think there should be some kinda form factor for easy recognition so that one would not be startled when some object moves suddenly..

I never did laugh at DJI because the design made sense.

Humanoid robots do not make sense unless you are employing them in functions where you need the robots to build an emotional connection with humans.

The fact they supposedly got all the way to the production without optimising away from inefficient humanoid designs during testing phase, means the whole thing is likely ********.
Let's see then.

Way too costly though. You know how expensive it is to make robots that can walk upright on two legs? Would be cheaper to just remodel the whole factory and get rid of all stairs so you can have all your robots go around on tracked wheels.... which is actually already the case on many factory floors because you often have trolleys and forklifts to move goods and heavy equipment.

mass layoff incoming ?

every few robot = can sack 1 human = every 1 human sack is a family destroyed = factory pumping out multiple robots daily nonstop = family tragedies nonstop
Wif so many robots : den all the foreigner levies and income tax revenues for the government how?

wow clankers that change their own battery so they can keep on working... if there is no chinese grand standing involved then this is a game changer... dunno this cina company will sell to amazon or not... bezos confirm wet just thinking about it....
Not sure what you are taking about. Amazon already uses over 750,000 robots in its warehouses, including the human-like Digit model, and is constantly looking for ways to eliminate downtime.

Amazon makes their own robots and is one of the world's largest developers and operators of mobile robotics.
They primarily do this through their subsidiary, Amazon Robotics.

It is one of the strongest company in the world that is capable of spamming billions of capex using free cashflow on automation.

Can pick stock and seal carton or not? Guess not.

Almost all the robots only good for waving hands and doing some stupid stunts. :(

they are still using warehouse bots on wheels right? i think they don't have humanoid robots in their inventory yet...

Exactly. Amazon robots are what real industrial robots actually look like.

Humanoid robots are great as a PR stunt. They're not that great at actually getting work done. Especially if bipedal. Amazon itself doesn't use that many Digit humanoid robots, even though it has been in trials for over two years. They simply aren't very effective on the workfloor.

They already have it 2 years ago. You may nitpick that the form factor is not like i-robot type but as long as it can get the job done form factor doesn’t matter.

The thing is repetitive labour is getting redundant.

It was like that.
Some still is. But emerging ones no.

Do visit UB plant in Shenzhen in person to check it out.

yea these are the bots amazon have.. i'm not nit picking.. i'm saying bezos will get wet thinking how he can replace even more human workers with robots... this time he can replace the workers who use their hands to do the majority of their work... warehouse logistics will barely have any humans in the industry...

Many robotics experts view the current deployment of humanoids as "hype for now" because purpose-built, non-humanoid robots (like Amazon's Kiva or Proteus mobile robots, of which they have over a million) are currently much more efficient and cost-effective for most warehouse tasks.

Therefore he won’t be wet, especially not by someone else’s robot when he can make on his own.
If you insist this humanoid made by this China company got successful practical use or trial for warehouse task, exceeding Amazon’s own capabilities that Bezo need to get wet, please show us.
