Depends on your usage. I only have SSD inside my casing. Don't like to put hdds inside as they generate quite an amount of heat. I put files/programmes that I access regularly in the SSD, the rest in external hdds. The Hdds should last longer (also depends on luck). Using only SSD saves energy bill too (maybe not much, but feel good factor).

internal storage for faster access, while external for backup which is always slower due to USB bottleneck

Internal:
Use the space inside your computer. Get cooling from system airflow. Fast SATA3 connection. Less things to spoil.

External:
Use the space outside your computer. HDD is further enclosed inside a plastic case. USB connection. External power supply and USB controller can spoil.

External storage generally performs slower, more expensive, and there's also capacity ceiling up to 2TB for 2.5" disk, where internal 3.5" can go up to 6~8TB... Unless you don't want going for 3.5" external ones, but they are bulky IMO.

hokay guys thank alot for your inputs...

i think as wad most of u suggest i will go for internal because of the better pricing, speed as well as placement (dont need and extra socket for power adapter and no need to leave it lying ard)...

gonna camp for bf deals for samsung ssd 500gb and a 2-4tb internal hdd!

Yes internal storage is preferred.

Internal storage for your daily task

External storage for backups

Use Robocopy for weekly/monthly to sync your internal storage with external storage. This is a free and powerful tool from microsoft.
