Fed up with viewqwest recent frequent issues. Went to buy a cellular router and subscribe to 8 mobile sim card. So far so good.

simple for you to diagnose the issue if you use your new router.
I'm connecting via vq now. Speed is ok. But later at night sure confirm slow down again. So I don't think it's the router issue.

that could be wifi channel congestion. unless you experience the same thing wired

a bit extreme to spring for a $300 Wifi 6 LTE router only to use a fraction of its potential...

and also while having a (probably) perfectly fine existing connection

but to each his own I guess 🤷‍♂️
Actually has been considering sim card internet for somet time. Can also use the sim card for overseas data roaming also when traveling.

Yes experienced same thing on wired also. And download is much slower than upload, so I think the chances of the cause being wifi channel congestion is low.

then it could be that you are in an older estate and the infra cannot handle the load during peak times :s13:

used to experience it constantly at my parent's place last time

My estate not very old, about 20 years only. So I also don't know why. I notice my internet speed slow down after 11+pm, last time also but not as drastic as now. Now can drop to as low as 0.2mpbs only.

TS smart. What is your final savings per month?

Please explain to us novices how to do that in detail. Using sim card and router.

And are you getting fast enough surfing speeds. Can download videos quickly?

I mean it could be. my parent's place also about the same age...

back then not every household had multi-gigabit connections so the infra would have been deemed sufficient

perhaps it is a good thing for you to move to LTE :s13:

Fibre plan was about 50 per month unlimited. Now is $11.80 per month for 488gb with roaming data.

Just insert the sim card into the slot at the bottom of the router and install the deco app on the phone and follow through. Quite simple to set up. Can download video quite quickly.

For eight, purchase from one of their retailers or sign up online?
Can we collect the SIM card on the spot from the retailer?
Can buy direct from retailers or sign up online also. Online is esim or can choose to pick up physical sim card at the retailer. I walked in to a retailer and bought the sim card on the spot. Just need singpass or physical ic, pay the first month subscription and choose the number you want. Simple and easy process. Can go to their website and login with mobile number and otp to choose auto renew or manual renew the plan every month or to top up data.

Assuming ~30 sgd/mth for free router 24mth home plan.

His savings ard 10 sgd per mth saved for all the trouble ... Enough to eat 2x McDonald meal I think or 3 more packet of caipng per mth .

Conclusion dun bother ba lol .

Cos afraid taobao ones don't support local telcos bands or 5g.

This one also more versatile compared to home broadband, can take the sim card use outside or for data roaming overseas. So no I don't have to subscribe data roaming for my phone main sim card already. Also flexible since I can place the router anywhere with a power outlet, even outdoors.
