don't concentrate on a company. Personally, i will choose a few silver mining companies but otherwise, a silver mining etf will be safer. Don't go to a single mining company

Silver is a strong sector. However, Gold is far more superior on a longer timeframe.
Nevertheless, there are some v compelling charts for some Silver miners as well.

<currently long Gold & Silver counters based in Canada, Australia and South Africa>

Those countries have good mining jurisdictions so it's not an issue. Nevada in Canada has the best mining jurisdiction in the world.
I primarily go for several junior miners with low debt though since there is more potential for organic growth that way.

My two cents: Suggest using charts as an tool to achieve one's objectives in the markets.
Charts are something that are reliable, measurable and codified.

I do use charts for example resistance/supports and channels and common chart patterns, other than that, I use fundamentals as well.

I would advise not buying the ETFs. There is unnecessary counterparty risk.

Buy the physical metals. Buy the miners.

Physical metal has storage problem.

I chose a precious metal ETF with a counterparty with credit rating rated A1+ and the ETF is redeemable for physical metal. It's a small position for portfolio hedging and diversification purpose and I don't intend to actively trade the precious metal.

You make buying/selling sound complicated with consideration of 'unnecessary counterparty risk'.

Recalled you were in Gold in Mar/Apr 2013. It's been 7 years. Just want to check: Have you broken even?

The end game for precious metals investing is because there is risk in currencies failing. This is likely to happen with all the extraordinary currency printing to prop up the economy.

When the printing starts to show up in currency inflation governments of the world may try to confiscate precious metals. If so what is the easiest place to confiscate? Likely banks, businesses and those other entities that are registered like SLV or GLD.

Individuals such as you are the last person they will try to come after. So if you are owning metals, it makes sense to keep them with you.

Maybe you shouldn't invest at all since you don't believe in capitalism and think/speculate that governments will seize assets in the near future. As far as I know, only certain regimes associated with dictators or communism seized assets in the past history of mankind. In that scenario, even physical precious metals can be seized, so what assurance is there?

I am a simple investor and will continue to believe in capitalism and the rule of law.

Well his logic is if Government really want to seize his precious metals, keeping it physically by himself it can protect him from the man with a badge, uniform and gun from doing their jobs...

That's why there are nutjobs in precious metals who cry the sky is falling or government will seize all gold or silver for whatever reason...

End game of any investment is to make a profit, not because of currency failing...

If you read those conspiracy theory website, they always say that Government is being controlled by the Central Banks...So does it make sense that the Government were to confiscate from those who are controlling them or from your average Tom, Dick and Harry who the Government can control?

So are you saying that the Government will break free from the control of the Banks and go against the banks by confiscating their gold?

If you talk about Business being in control of running the country, do you think suddenly the business will give away their Gold or take it from the common people?

If you want to believe in doomsday scenario or post-apocalyptic, you honestly believe your precious metals is going to help you?

In our previous conversations it is YOU who has introduced crazy theories like apocalypse and doomsday. None of this needs to happen for money to lose value suddenly, which is a common event and has happened many times in history already.

If you want redundancy from the metals you already expect an adverse situation. Relying on a counter-party is not consistent with this expectation. So I advise fellow PM investor simply: you already expect the worst to buy PMs, so then be consistent and take the least risk.

That is a fallacy that you believe in and I don't. I hold PM simply as a portfolio hedging tool and diversification from other asset classes as I believe in MPT.

Please don't group all PM investors with the same belief that you hold.

People do not buy Precious Metals because they expect the worst... People buy for a few different reasons, namely to make a profit or to ride on the rising price of PM or FOMO...

You posted this...

Only a nutjob can think that Government will confiscate precious metals...If the government were to confiscate precious metals, what makes you think that you are going to get special treatment or the last person that they will go after? This is based on what fact or evidence?

You brought up the topic of confiscation of precious metals...I just highlight how ridiculous that is...

I think most of the Precious Metals Investors are like you and I, not the extreme nutjobs who think Government are out to confiscate other people's precious metals...
