iOS 11 Update Guide/Discussions

Anyway I've cancelled the iCloud backup for my 7 Plus, went up to a ridiculous time remaining of 9 hrs. Will try to do a backup again after iOS 11 update.

It is best not to use the device at all while the device is backing up as it might slow down the process. This is based on my experience from backing to iTunes or iCloud.

The automatic iCloud backups are usually done at night. Thus, leaving the iPhone through the night with iCloud backup enabled should allow it to complete the (huge) backup process.

But what if later on I do iOS update, it'll stop the backup completely right?

Yes. It will completely stop.

After the update, and should you leave the device for a long period of time (e.g. gonna sleep), to initiate a iCloud backup - to let it backup in the background.

Make sure it’s plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi.

Also to add on, if you're on family sharing. You can subscribe to the 200gig plan (and above) to share with your family members. So you don't have to purchase individual plans for everyone.

Is the family share only limited to 200Gig plan? Can the 50GB be shared too? Was hinting my family to chip in, maybe my gf too.

Those who have installed iOS 11 GM last Tuesday, no action is required. Both builds are the same on 15A372.
