I have an itouch 3g, 64gb
I logged into my itunes using abc@xxx.com
"Purchased" and downlaoded the apps I wanted/

Went to my restored to factory itouch, logged into abc@xxx.com.
Proceeded to the app store, under "Purchased", clicked on the cloud download only to see..
No prompt to ask if I want the lastest compaitible app, only message I get is "ios update required, blah blah blah"

Any idea how to fix this? ios is supposed to make life simpler..

So i only have qq, flipboard, google earth, wechat, dbs mbanking and Line. only apps..

Which version of iOS is your iPod touch?
Which app are you trying to download?
Can you paste a screenshot of that message "ios update required, blah blah blah" ?

Are you able to view the purchased app on iTunes on your computer? use the steps on the following article in section: Download previous purchases on Mac or PC
Download past purchases

Unfortunately for you all these apps requires ios 6.0 or later. Unfortunately for you, your ipod touch can't be upgraded any further. This is not a bug, basically the app developers updated their apps on the app store making changes to system requirements. your only option on using the ipod touch is to download apps that does not requires ios 6 or later which probably be old apps that have not been updated for a long time.

Edit: if you managed to sync the older version apps to your computer before the restore, you can sync it back to the ipod touch and still use them but redownloading from the app store will be linked to the latest version.

eh.. ok. thanks.

Can someone else who knows his stuff please help.
iOS App Store now allows legacy app downloads to support older hardware and software | 9to5Mac

Apple allows legacy app downloads from app store. I have downloaded old apps before, same scenario. Just need to make it happen again..
