ios9 Whatsapp connection problem on 4g

Annoying problem I've been facing for the past few days ever since I did the software update of ios9. Whatsapp has been stating "connecting" and it took for me at least 5 mins to get connected and sometimes I don't get connected at all unless I changed to wifi. I've reinstalled Whatsapp but the problem still occurs.

i dont have such issues. iphone 6s+. what telco are you on? worse come to worst, do a restore instead of a update.

Starhub. But i doubt its the telco problem bcos i have no issues surfing the net using mobile data for safari and other apps except for whatsapp. I'm using iPhone 6 plus. How can i do the restore? Mind telling me the steps pls

Is it possible to downgrade ios? Because i think after restoring i will have same prob with whatsapp. I got this prob right after i did the software update. I dont wish to go the hassle of having to back up and do a restore but there is no guarantee that whatsapp will be back to normal.
