iPhone 12 Pro Max overheat and screen dim issues

Anyone has the same issue as me? The phone just gets hot under very light tasks, screen dims at times.

Oh… I just did a normal reboot, seems ok now. The issue is intermittent, same thing happened for my 10s max and the apple staff told me it is a logic board issue. Told me buy new iPhone and new iPhone also this problem. Zzz

it could be an app issue then.

Did you get it from the apple store?
Simce it didn’t resolve your problem. Return it.

No my set was from StarHub. Used for almost 10 months already.

If 10 months is should still be under warranty and u can sent in for repair if it really a logic board issue.

Yeah hard to prove whether is it hardware or software. Not every problem can be replicated at the store.

It could be caused by a bank app. POSB/UOB still causes my phone to heat up.

I have problem too. When recording videos outdoors (under shade), it will overheat after a few minutes then brightness will dim. Under normal use there's no overheating problem.

I did not have this problem with 11 Pro Max. Not impressed.

This is a known issue with the iPhone 12 unfortunately. If the phone heats up too much, such as using it in bright sunlight, the screen will dim to protect itself. You go to brightness setting and the level is maxed out but you know it’s not true.

sadly no fix unless you let the device cool down.

You should try and see if you can try and recreate the issue. For me, as someone pointed out, some bank apps can heat up the phone quite a fair bit. But I've never seen my Max Pro get to a state where it will dim its screen after around 6+ months of usage. The SOC of the iPhone gets hot under sustained load, and I think some apps somehow stresses it for a long period of time even after you closed the app.
