iPhone 4 sound not working

Currently, encountered some sound problem on my iPhone 4. Managed to diagnose the problem to be caused by the loose bottom of the phone.

The sound will come back for a while when the bottom of the phone is tightly pressed.

Anyone encountered this problem before? Let's say if I want to disassemble the phone on my own, what are the areas/parts that I should look out for.

Thank you. I'm sorry that I did not make myself clear. I want to ask which components in the phone should I fiddle in order to get the sound working again? Eg. cleaning the contact of the speaker ringer, tighten the screws of the ringer and etc.

initially, thought it was the dusty charging port. But it turns out not. When i press the home button hard for a few times, the sound is fine for the next 5 seconds. After that, it just doesn't sound anymore.

time to change a new phone..

Take a look at this part and also the installation guide...

iPhone 4 and 4S Speaker Enclosure - iFixit

Basically, you'll need to remove the Speaker Enclosure to check and gently "lift" the copper connector a little.

Skip Step 22 as you are not replacing the Cellular Antenna Cable and refer to Step 23 on photo of the copper connector.

i tried doing what you suggested and also did a 1 to 1 exchange of the speaker enclosure from another iphone 4. sadly it didn't work.

i suspect it's the connector on the main mainboard. think gonna send it in for a look by the expert.

Looks like highly possible the dock connector cable might have some issue as suggested by PumpkinX.

Might need to do further diagnostic to see if other parts seated properly also.. Good Luck..

Ok, got back my phone from technician.

He can't fix it. But he did mentioned that the ringing tone is working when there is incoming call. But no sound when viewing videos from youtube.

I just tried taking out the charging port and it's seems easy.

I'll swap my working charging port onto the faulty phone later.

Will update you guys again.
