iPhone 4S problem Help!!

My iphone s4 got difficulty in updating software OS 7.1
The current version is OS 6.1. It is still "checking for update software" for a long while.

Oh yes, I forgot to add one more thing - I tried to switch off my iphone but to my surprise, it restarts itself automatically everytime i switch off.

How to switch off without restart itself automatically? Thanks.

Not sure abt the auto start issue but u might want to try updating to IOS 7 thru ITunes. I had a similar searching that goes on indefinitely. Posted my problem here a few times and One day a saviour came out with the advise to use ITunes. It worked after 2 failed attempts initially.
