Hi guys, I have an old iPhone 5 and the battery somehow got "inflated" and I assume died.

So I bought an OEM battery from eBay and changed it myself, following instructions from some youtube videos. It worked. Well the new battery was unable to fully charged somehow, but it worked for a while. Able to call, able to sync onto iTunes etc.

Then a few weeks later, I realised that the battery went flat. I was unable to charge it via external charger nor plugging into a computer. In fact I was not able to turn on the phone at all.

Thinking that it could be another case of faulty battery, I went to eBay and a bought an original battery. It did not worked.

So currently I am unable to access my phone even when plugged into a computer. I am not able to do any reset or reboot whatsoever.

The phone does know when a cable is plug into it but it just could not turn on, nor charge. When I plug a cable into the phone, the phone shows a battery image with a tiny red bar indicating flat battery.

Anyone came across such a situation? If I were to send it for servicing at those external repair shop, what would be the estimated amount?

I have some information in the phone that I did not save out previously so throwing it away is not an option.

Thanks in advance.

No thanks, I need this iPhone 5 to work so as to retrieve the important information I have left in it. I have other working iPhones.

I have tried using various external/original chargers as well as original cable but all did not work. As I have suspected it could be due to faulty charging circuitry in the phone. Anyone knows of the estimated cost to get this issue fixed?

Look like the circuit broad maybe 'fry' by the not compatible battery. Used to have this problem before when I change my 5s battery purchase online.

How did you confirm its a genuine one? Unlikely Samsung themselves still producing batteries for old phones, it's more likely than not to be old stock, or a third party one that just happens to work fine.

I compared the serial number with my old battery and new battery, it matches. it also last longer than my previous one.

I used to charged like 2 day once on my old one without any usuage
now it is able to last me about 4-5 days without any usuage. using sleep mode.
