as in other than the touch sensor, when i look around everybody holding iphones, i cannot differentiate the models. in fact the back color cant be seen for those using transparent casing lol

If they didnt use any casing or using transparent casing, then the white 5S is very difficult to tell. Space grey can tell straight away. Gold...dun need say...
