comparing hardcore durability to normal protection isn't comparing at all. apple to apple. your scenario is 2 very different category of cases altogether.

after all, metal bumpers are leaning towards the aesthetics side.

Apple leather case doesn't really last. Used it for only a month and it's looking horrendous.

Well for me it's still very lasting, case still tight fitting despite taking in and out several times to clean my phone, no peel or dmg to the case, the form factor makes it very comfortable and easy to hold in the hand, precise cut out for mute switch, headphone jack and speaker grill, nice tactile feedback from leather covering power and volume buttons, no reception issue, only discoloration issue which is normal due to wear and tear and I feel it adds character to your phone. Get the black one and you won't notice any color change or stain. Used many cases before and this is the case I like the most and have used it for close to 6 months. Probably element ronin might make me change my mind but the price is just insanely high for a case

Yes that's the case I'm referring to. It's good protection from normal falls eg table height, chest level and from scratches due to normal daily usage and have a slightly raised lip at the front to protect screen from shattering if phone falls and landed on the front on a flat surface.
But it's not as good in absorbing shock as those heavy duty case like otterbox etc. IMO it's a good compromise between looks and protection.

what is your definition of cheap? Castrum is for sure more expensive than Red alert, which is slightly on the high side for some people. and the AOR1 edition is made in japan. so if you like the castrum design, be prepared to pay a premium.

speaking of AOR1, i think the AOR2 is coming. only this time it looks a lot more like SAF NO.4 lol!
