Actually last week I drop my ip6 face down & cracked my China glass SP on the bottom right near the button area. Lucky did not scratch my screen or casing, the feeling was like whole world collapse lor. Then I went to nearby mobile shop to ask for glass SP and this guy took out a plastic bag with a few pcs of glass SP without any packaging. Next are our conversations:
Me: 多少钱(How much?)
Guy: $25
Me: 哇！为什么那么贵？(How come so expensive?)
Guy: 这个不一样的，玻璃不会破的。(This one is different, glass won't break)
Me: 真的吗？哪有玻璃不会破的？(Real or not, where got glass wont break)
Guy: 我试给你看！(Let me try show you. At first he took out his key and scratch on his glass SP sample that is sticked onto his glass shelves. Then as he wants use his key to knock on the glass SP, I stopped him)
Me: 不用了试了！这个玻璃protector连包装都没有，要25块钱。太贵！（No need to try already! This glass SP dont even have a packaging, $25 is too expensive & I just walk off)
You can imagine how much mark up they earn just by selling glass SP. Really kns lor...
Lemme guess... those typical makeshift open stores in shopping malls like junction 8?
To be honest, there are many people didn't know the cost price of plastic and glass screen protectors.
Any plastic screen protectors should be selling between $1-6
Any tempered glass should be selling between $4-10.
That said, those values above still can earn profit already, showing how dirt cheap it is. Anything above is maximum profit to the max.
A lot people are psychoed to believe that screen protectors are $10 and the so-called magical tempered glass are $30 by conmen. (SLS rate)
